Detailed Project Scope
This project involves the dualization of the existing single carriageway road into a modern dual carriageway connecting Al Mugharaq Port to Jebel Al Dhannah Road in the Al Dhafra Region. The total project length is approximately 7.5 km and is designed to enhance traffic capacity, improve road safety, and increase operational efficiency.
Scope of Work
The project includes comprehensive road and infrastructure works covering the following components:
1. Road Works
- Conversion of the existing single carriageway into a dual carriageway (2 lanes in each direction with a central median).
- Road widening and construction of new asphalt lanes.
- Reconstruction, rehabilitation, and overlay of the existing pavement.
- Construction of embankments and slope protection works.
- Installation of road markings, traffic signs, and road safety barriers.
- Construction of bus lay-bys and installation of bus shelters.
- Demolition and reconstruction of selected sections of the existing road.
2. Stormwater & Drainage Works
- Construction of surface stormwater drainage systems.
- Installation of drainage pipelines, manholes, soakaways, and associated drainage structures.
- Culvert extensions and hydraulic capacity improvements.
- Protection works to manage and control high groundwater levels.
3. Street Lighting Works
- Installation of a complete street lighting network.
- Supply and installation of LED lighting systems with future smart-control capability.
- Installation of lighting poles, cables, ducts, and control cabinets.
- Removal, relocation, and reuse of existing lighting infrastructure where applicable.
- Testing, commissioning, and energization of the lighting system.
4. Utility Protection & Relocation Works
The project includes the protection and relocation of existing utilities, including:
- Electrical utilities (ADDC / TRANSCO).
- Telecommunication networks (Etisalat / DU).
- Oil and gas pipelines (ADNOC).
- Water pipelines and other utility services.
- Trial trenching and verification of existing utility locations.
- Coordination with all relevant authorities to obtain approvals and NOCs.
5. Traffic Management Works
- Preparation and implementation of traffic diversion plans.
- Coordination with Abu Dhabi Police and the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC).
- Temporary traffic arrangements to maintain continuous road access during construction.
- Compliance with Road Safety Audit (Stage 3) requirements.
6. Landscape & Streetscape Works
- Landscaping and beautification of roundabouts and road corridors.
- Installation of hardscape elements including kerbs, interlocks, paving, gravel, and related features.
- Coordination of landscape works with infrastructure and utility layouts.
